Roudolphe emigrated about 1912 and worked in breweries in Detroit. After Marie deceaesed he returned te Belgium, but he was a broken man: almost blind and both legs amputated, he spended his las years with his sister in Roeselare.
His grandson Larry Weismiller gives us his witness:
«I don't remember any contact with other family members in Detroit when I was growing up. I think there may have been some family problems, My Grandfather never talked much about his family. He did raise homing pigeons and I helped him when he lost his leg. He also had a great garden and kept chickens. We lived about three city blocks from them and spent a lot of time at their house. He was a fine man and was very good to me. My mother took him back to his birthplace after my grandmother died. She said he was happy to return after such a long time. My grandmother was a great cook and a great grandmother.»
