Julius A. Brackevelt was born in Schuiffersketelie, [Schuiferskapelle] Belgium, Sept. 9, 1875, and attended schools there. He married Marie DeDobbelaere on Jan. 15, 1903, in Belgium, and they came to America in 1907. She preceded him in death in July, 1920.
He married Marie DeRoo in Moline in 1921. She preceded him in death on July 9, 1946.
A resident of Moline for the last 48 years, Mr. Brackevelt was employed by Williams-White Co. for 26 years before he retired in February, 1953.
He was a member of the East End Club, West End Club and Belgian-American Club.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Emil Poppee, East Moline, and Mrs. Arthur Timmerman, Moline; a son, Albert, of Moline; nine grandchildren; a brother, Henry, Moline; a sister in Belgium; four step-sons, Emeric, Gerard and Camiel DeRoo, all of Moline; and Julius DeRoo, in Belgium; and a step-daughter, Mrs. Mary Tanghan, Belgium.
He was preceded in death by a son and a daughter.
